Sorry to learn of Wallace's passing. May the love of God surround and sustain you Hazel and your loving family during this sad time. I still have the trumpet Wallace sold or gave me when I began in Hamiota Band some 60 years ago. I remember him fondly.

Thank you Lloyd for your kind words. I never knew about the trumpet he gave you but do remember him staying with your family when he took Gr. 12 in Hamiota. Lots of good memories.

just saw of WALLYS passing in the Bdn Sun-- seems like only yesterday when I ,Ivan, met him at Cardale- yes - through baseball- then hockey- Gail from Crandall -so even tho we were out of Province for many years our paths crossed often,usually via sports.

On behalf of Aline, I extend to Hazel, David, Debbie, Dale, Diane and family our condolences on the passing of Wally, a good guy. I have known Wally for over 60 years. Time spent with Wally was always time well spent. Here are three little known facts about Wally. Back in school days in Crandall, Wally played the trumpet. His peers gave him the nickname, "Skitch" after the American musician Skitch Henderson. Wally played quarterback for Crandall High without wearing padding. His torn t-shirts were legendary. Wally was the first hockey referee to wear a helmet. And I mean the first. Now, referees all over the world and in every level of competition wear helmets. All this thanks to Wally.

The curtain has fallen and this great man’s role has ended. His legacy will live on in the wonderful things he did for those who knew him.
