Gwen, a beautiful soul, loving, kind, creative, a caring, strong woman.One of my Mom's best friends. Gwen saved my Mom's life. Shortly after my father passed away, on a bitter cold Friday night, Gwen stopped in to see how we were doing. I was only 9, I told her Mom wasn't feeling well and laying on the couch. Gwen took a look, told my brother and I to grab our jackets. She helped Mom into the car and we drove like the wind, to Hamiota hospital. Gwen ran in, like a drill sergeant, had nurses scurrying to the car with a wheelchair. They performed emergency surgery, a cyst had burst internally. My Mom was full of poison and near death. Gwen saved her friend's life. Gwen did, what she Gwen did best, cared and loved. She kept my brother and I, until family was called. I stayed with Gwen and Jim on numerous occasions, they loved me and cared for me as one of their own. Gwen was a passionately loving wife, who cared for Jim until his death. She was brilliantly creative, firing her own pottery, sewing clothing, loved her children and grandchildren and saw them every chance she got. Even though Keith towered over her when she spoke he jumped which I always found amusing. Eileen, well Gwen lives on in you, as you have all her beautiful qualities. I will always cherish every memory I have of Gwen Douglas. I am very proud to have known her and called her my friend.

I am so sorry to hear of Gwen's passing. She and Gerald(Kirk) used to have "conversations" when they were in both in Birch Lodge and they always got around to Gerald and Keith's "antics" when they were young!!! Cherish your memories--they will get you through. Condolences to all of you.
