Sally MacDonald Obituary

Sally MacDonald, a cherished matriarch and beacon of love and resilience, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, in Hamiota, Manitoba, at the age of 89. Born on March 28, 1936, on a small farm near Anjum, Netherlands, Sally was the daughter of Ebeltje Wagenaar (nee Cuperus) and Willem Bote Wagenaar, and she grew up in a lively household with her five brothers, Chris, Bob, Martin, Andrew, and Karl, and four sisters, Joan, Marian, Martha, and Elsie.

Sally's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and the deep love she had for her family and community. She dedicated herself to raising her family, imparting values of kindness, hard work, and faith. Her children, Lynn (Jeff) Watson, Don (Jane) MacDonald, Janice (Thomas) Heapy, and Jason (Kelly) MacDonald, were the center of her world, and she nurtured them with the same tenderness and strength that characterized her entire life.

Her legacy continued to flourish through her adored grandchildren, Daniel, Tylor, Travis, Tanner, Jacob, Katherine, John, Kane, and Michael, each of whom she loved with all her heart. Sally's guidance and wisdom were the cornerstones upon which her family built their lives, and her influence will be felt for generations to come.

Sally's Christian faith was a guiding light throughout her life, providing her with comfort and purpose. She lived her beliefs through her actions, offering kindness and support to everyone she met. Her devotion to her faith was evident in the way she conducted her life, always striving to embody the principles of love and charity.

An avid gardener, Sally found joy in the simple pleasure of nurturing plants and flowers, watching them grow and thrive under her careful attention. Her garden was a vibrant tapestry of colors and scents that brought beauty to her home and joy to those who visited. Sally's love for golfing offered her the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and the companionship of friends, with whom she shared many a sunny afternoon on the greens.

Sally's influence extended beyond the confines of her home and into the community, where she was known for her generosity and willingness to lend a hand. Her work history and association involvement were defined by her commitment to her family, but her impact was felt by all who knew her.

Sally MacDonald's life was a journey of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to those she held dear. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, mother and grandmother, we take solace in the knowledge that her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Sally's memory will be cherished, her stories retold, and her love felt, always.
