Roberta "Bobbi" Prawdzik Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved wife, mother,
grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend Roberta (Bobbi) Prawdzik.
Bobbi passed away peacefully at the Hamiota Health Centre on March 27,
2024 with her husband Dick by her side.
Bobbi leaves behind her husband Dick, children Cindy (Dean), Kristi (Shane),
Michael and Jane, grandchildren Jordan (Tom), Kirby, Mac, Abbey (Josh),
Megan, Avery, Sophie and Liam, and great grandchildren Aria, Bennett,
Mason and Maura, sisters Jennie (Terry), Judy (Dave), nieces and nephews,
and too many friends to name.
Bobbi was born in Oxford, England on January 25, 1944. She immigrated to
Canada as a ‘war baby’ in 1946 at which time she and her mother joined her
father in Neepawa Manitoba, following his discharge from the Canadian
Armed Forces. Bobbi was an accomplished vocalist, and excelled
academically. She was an athletic youth and enjoyed participating in sports.
Following high school graduation she trained as a medical lab technician at
Misericordia General Hospital, where she then became employed. Later she
moved to Brandon and worked in the lab at Brandon General Hospital.
She was fortunate to have met the love of her life when she was just a
teenager. Following their marriage in July 1966 they settled in Hamiota,
Manitoba. Theirs’ was a true love story that spanned more than 57 years.
They soon had a growing family. Never one to sit still, Bobbi could be found
coaching gymnastics, softball, and basketball. She embraced many roles in
community activities, as well as working part time in various term provincial
and federal government positions. However, her most cherished role was to
be a stay at home mom and available to participate in every aspect of her
family’s activities. She was her children’s biggest cheerleader.
Once grandchildren entered the scene, she and Dick were often on the road
visiting and helping out in Pilot Mound, Calgary and the Yukon. Many many
enjoyable hours were spent in arenas, at the basketball court, volleyball court,
at vocal festivals, on ball diamonds, swimming pools, rugby fields, soccer
fields and graduations. If it involved her grandkids she was present and
beamed with pride. Over the years many hours were spent in the summers
on Manitoba beaches. Her love of travel took them to various places abroad
with family, friends, and sometimes just the two of them. Any family get
together was a highlight for Bobbi. The numerous times the family gathered
at the acreage just outside of Calgary produced lots of smiles and warm
visiting. The Yukon was a special place to visit and her most recent trip, just
this past July, was a highlight including fishing on the lake in Michael and
Mac’s boats, and roughing it in the bush for two days with no power due to a
storm.
A service for Bobbi will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Virden, Manitoba on
Saturday, May 18th at 11:00 am. Family interment will take place at the
Hamiota Cemetery. Community reception at 3:00pm at Hamiota Community
