Peacefully, and surrounded by her family, Irene Chartier with great sadness passed away March 18, 2026 at the age of 73.
Mom nursed for many years, she started in Hamiota, MB, she then was a LPN in Birtle Hospital in Birtle,MB. She retired in 2007. Mom loved the colour purple. She travelled to Alaska, Minot, and Crosby. She loved going to the Austin Thresherman's Reunion. Mom’s biggest passion was quilting, which she loved.
Survived by daughters: Patricia Chartier, Margaret (Dennis) Bonchuk, and son Cyril (Kim) Chartier. Grandchildren: Yelana, Natalia, Laticia, Anastasia, Chelsea, Dillon, Jasmin. Great grandchildren: Phelix, Winnifred, Ava, Tristen. Her sisters: Shirley Schledwitz, Deloris (Merv) Smith, Darlene (Bill) McAurthur. Along with numerous nieces and nephews. She is fondly remembered by many extended family and friends, whose lives she has touched.
Irene is predeceased by her mother Edna Brott (Wallace) and father Clarence Brott.
The family would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff at the Birtle Transitional Health Center.
Service will be held at the St. Lazare Catholic Church, St. Lazare, MB on Friday, March 27, 2026 at 1:00pm followed by a reception at the Club Fort Ellice Leisure Centre.
Interment will take place at the Foxwarren Cemetery.
