Garry Melvin Kidd, age 84. Passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 20, 2025, with his wife, Carol by his side.
Garry was born to Cecil Creighton Kidd and Annette Pearl Smith on April 5, 1940 in Hamiota, Manitoba. Garry took his schooling in Hamiota and was actively involved in baseball, hockey, basketball, track and field and golf.
He married Carol Cumming of Lenore on November 1, 1963. Garry worked as a Traffic Surveyor for the Manitoba Government, Manitoba Pool Elevators, returning to Hamiota in 1969 purchasing the Imperial Oil. In 1973 they bought the William Pollock farm where they remained until the fall of 2015 when they came to Heritage Estates in Hamiota.
Garry was a member of the Hamiota Lions Club, Hamiota United Church and served on the Hamiota Curling Club. He was also a member of the Hamiota Golf and Curling Clubs.
He will be missed and remembered by his wife of 61 years; daughters Kathy (Warren) Brooks and Karma (Doug) Hawkins; grandchildren Karlee (Jordan) Lee, Taylor (Tara) Brooks, Jenna (Mark) Badger, Jillian (Taylor) Madsen, Jacquelyn (Theoren) Hunter; great grandchildren Jaxen and Emma Lee, William Smith, Bryson and Adalyn Badger, and Mason and Mia Madsen; sister Lynda Chorley, sisters in-law Maxine Brown and Gail Parker, and brother in-law Charlie Clifford.
Garry was predeceased by his parents Cecil and Pearl, parents in-law Russell and Hazel Cumming, sister Gaylene Johnson, brothers in-law Elliott Chorley, Al Johnson, Cam Brown, and Brian Parker, sister in-law Lauree Clifford and niece Marnie (Parker) Foreman.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to all the staff at Hamiota Health Center for the special care provided to Garry and to the Palliative Care Committee for the comfort and all the food provided for family.
A service and reception celebrating Garry’s life was held at the Hamiota Community Center on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 2:00 pm.
