Betty Ann Graham Obituary

In Loving Memory of Betty Ann Graham

Betty Ann Graham, beloved wife of the late Alfred Graham, passed away at the Wawanesa Personal Care Home in Wawanesa, Manitoba on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at the age of 82. Her family and friends mourn the loss of a remarkable woman whose life was filled with love, laughter, and selfless dedication.

Born in 1940 to Andy and Ruth Graham, Betty grew up in Carberry, Manitoba, alongside her two sisters, Gwen and Joan. She attended Carberry and Linwood School, where she nurtured a thirst for knowledge and a compassionate spirit that would define her future endeavors.

Betty pursued her passion for nursing  and attended Nursing School in Winnipeg, where fate led her to cross paths with Alf's sister, Grace. It was through this connection that she met the love of her life, Alfred Graham. They exchanged vows in 1962 embarking on a journey that would span a lifetime of shared adventures and cherished memories. In 1965, they had their son, Scott.

As a dedicated nurse, Betty worked in Thompson, Manitoba in the operating room. In 1974, their family expanded once again with the birth of their daughter, Tara. They moved to Winnipeg for a year before settling in Birtle, Manitoba, where they built a life for over three decades. Betty's commitment to caring extended beyond the hospital as she supported Alf in his plumbing business, ran her own store, Birtle Knit'n Stitch, and assisted in managing a Drive-In Restaurant & Motel.

Betty's true joy in life came from being a grandmother. Twenty-nine years ago, she experienced the unparalleled happiness of becoming a grandma. Danielle (Brad), Lexi, Sydnee, Bailey, and Jack filled her heart with boundless love and brought immeasurable joy into her life. Betty seized every opportunity to care for and nurture her grandchildren, relishing every moment spent with them.

Betty and Alf moved from Birtle to Carberry to retire.  Cherishing the memories they had created together. A few years following Alf’s passing, she moved into the Wawanesa Care-home, where she received exceptional care and found comfort in the compassionate support of the staff and fellow nurses. The family is forever grateful to the dedicated staff for their kindness and care.

Betty Ann Graham will be remembered for her unwavering love, her generous spirit, and her dedication to her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

A graveside service will be held at the Carberry Cemetery, Carberry, MB on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 2:00pm (bring a lawn chair if you wish). A reception will follow in the Carberry United Church Hall, Carberry, MB.
