Alma (Loeppky) Stowe was born in Halbstadt, Manitoba. She passed away peacefully at Dinsdale Personal Care Home in Brandon, MB, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and family values.
Alma was the beloved mother of John (Noreen Wadham), Frank, Anita (Ward Johnston), Bob (Val Fiarchuk), Pat, and Kathy (Ron Huberdeau). She was a proud grandmother to David (deceased) (Erin Brown), Steven (Catherine Butcher), Krista (Darryl) Brown, Teresa Johnston (Wes Dauncey), Lisa (Dean) McGrath and Shawn Meekins.
She cherished her great-grandchildren: Tyler (Dayna), Randy (Alex Forman), McKenzie, Abigail (Andryn King), Steven (Paige Kellas), Ryan, Jessy (Cheyenne Ferguson) Mytopher, Cash Mytopher (Justice Greenshields), Khloe Brown, Boden Brown, Ethan Dauncey and Aleya McGrath. Her joy multiplied with the arrival of her great-great-grandchildren: Kaycie and Deacon Mytopher, Bailee Stowe, and Zayne and Aurora Mytopher.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ed Stowe, on January 2, 1998. Together, they worked side by side on their mixed farm north of Miniota, raising their family and building a life filled with dedication and resilience.
Alma was far more than a farm wife and the mother of six children—she embodied strength and perseverance. She wore many hats, from milking cows and separating cream, to tending up to three gardens and preserving the harvest. In her kitchen, she worked magic on a wood stove, baking cakes, pies, cookies, muffins, and breads, and filling her pantry with home-canned fruits. Her home was always open, her kettle always ready, and her baking always shared.
Her love for animals was unconditional. Evening walks often turned into parades, with dogs, cats, chickens, geese, and even Gordie the pig following along. Summers found her in berry patches, gathering as much as she could carry. She was an avid gardener, and her hands were rarely still, whether knitting, crocheting, or dealing a winning hand in a card game. A fierce competitor, she was especially hard to beat at Scrabble.
Alma’s greatest strength was her devotion to family. She always put their needs before her own, leaving behind a legacy of love, sacrifice, and determination. She will be remembered for her tireless work, her generous spirit, her love of all creatures great and small, and her zest for life. Her influence will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Alma was also predeceased by her parents, Peter and Maria Loeppky, four brothers, Henry, Eddy, David and Peter, two half-sisters as well as all of her husband’s family, which ends a generation of the Stowes and Loeppkys.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the Sherwood Personal Care Home in Virden and Dinsdale Personal Care Home for the loving care provided to Alma during her six years there.
Funeral service will be on Monday, September 15, 2025, at the Miniota United Church, 204 N Railway Ave, Miniota, at 2:00pm, followed by lunch at the Miniota Community Centre.
