Marguerite Jean (Mair) Brooks - (September 26th, 1922 – December 16, 2017)

 

Sadly, on December 16th, 2017 after an accident with her family at her side, Jean passed away at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre, Selkirk, MB at the age of 95 years.  Until 2013 Jean was a lifelong resident of Hamiota, MB and moved to live with her daughter and her family in Selkirk.  Jean was predeceased by her loving husband R. Harry Brooks of 60 years (August 13, 2011); parents John Strath Mair (1943) and Beatrice Annie (Colbon) Mair 1971; her uncle R. Roy Mair (1971) and cousin Wilbur (Web) Mair and his wife Jean.

Also predeceased by her father and mother in-law Ben and Gene Brooks; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law:  Franklin (Kay) Brooks, Marion (Lorne) McNiven, Bette (Hjalmer) Nelson, Eunice Brooks, Norval (Rose) Brooks.  She was predeceased by nephews Bruce, Murray, Calvin McNiven, Keith, Doug, and Earl Brooks, by her very good friends Helen Maitland of Hamiota, Marion and Jim Wood (Bradwardine/Rivers).

Left to mourn her passing are her children Lindsay (Elaine), Jasmine and Corey Brooks; Lois (James), Colleen and Shannon Wales; Lynette (Greg), Courtney and Parker Baraniuk; brother-in-law Bill Brooks; Jan and Mel Dixon; and friend Jean (Collie) Doern.  Jean is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A family graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Hamiota Cemetery at 1:30 PM followed by a time for friends to join the family at 2:00 PM at the Hamiota Community Centre for refreshments and fellowship.  For those so desiring, donations may be made in Jean’s memory to the Hamiota Community Foundation, Box 100, Hamiota, MB, R0M 0T0.
